About Us

Americans 4 Common Sense is a group of American citizens who formed to protect deeded, private property known as Block 174 in the Fairview Cemetery in Liberty, Missouri, on which a Confederate monument was “Erected in Honor of the Confederate Soldiers of Clay County, Missouri 1904”. Some in our group have family buried in that block. We joined together to preserve their families’ memories and history by confronting the group trying to remove the monument based upon half-truths, lies, mis and disinformation. In so doing, we found that we were dealing with a broader issue: the continued division of people everywhere based upon race. We cannot be united when some people and organizations want to keep us divided based upon race, false guilt and shame. Regardless of your position on the Civil War between the North and the South, we are now referred to as the United States of America.

“Blaming today’s families for the mistakes of our ancestors is not a prescription for unifying the country or empowering racial and ethnic minorities.”
